“Ash To Dust” is a local Tucson thrash band that was formed in July 2007 by Robb Matthews. Through the years, there have been numerous changes to the band, such as new members, new names, and the location of the band. Ash To Dust has been on hold for 3 ½ years while the members tended to their family and other life events. The passing of their guitar player, Paul Von Bargen was a devastating blow and almost the end of Ash To Dust. Their first self-titled CD release was released November 2007; a nine-song demo EP. Songs included a Black Sabbath cover, “Children of the Grave” as well as Sepultura's, “Territory.” Their first three shows were a “Battle of the Bands” in which they placed 2nd and lost by 7 votes to Animus Divine, also a local Tucson band. With those three shows, the floodgates opened and Ash To Dust was given the opportunities to open for: Testament, Sacred Reich, Flotsam and Jetsam, Exodus, Sevenwitches, Obituary, Goatwhore, Warbringer, Heathen, Kittie, Evile, Bonded By Blood, Forbidden, Death Angel, Sepultura. Since May 2011, Robb has been writing for the next album and reforming Ash To Dust.
Robb Matthews is the founder and creator of Ash To Dust!
Music has always been a huge passion for Robb. When Robb was 5 years old, he picked up his first instrument and began to play.
Some of the biggest influences that Robb looks up to is Megadeth, Death Angel, Pantera - and, that is just to name a few.
One of Robb's biggest dreams is to be able to play music every day and also to be able to live off of what he makes.
The one thing that Robb wishes to accomplish with this musical career is to make a difference and an impact.
And, how does he feel about Ash To Dust? You can feel the way he feels about ATD by listening to his music and the passion that goes behind every song.
Ashley Ruscetta is a heavy metal bass maiden who adores stomping on stage alongside her bandmates.
Although she began playing bass in 2011, it took six years to break into the professional music scene and to perfect the art of stage presence one gig at a time.
Since joining Ash to Dust mid 2020 and Dedwin in 2018, Ashley is well on her way to crushing stages from Amsterdam to Zimbabwe.
As a super talented drummer, ATD was extremely happy to welcome Chris in 2018.
Some of Chris's biggest influences are Metallica, Primus, Sausage, The Holy Mackerel, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Pantera, Lamb of God, Nile, Behemoth and many more.
Chris was banging on pots and pans as a child, always having the urge to play on a real drum-set. After helping his dad build a porch at the age of 13, he earned enough for his first kit and his life, as well as the neighbor's has been much louder ever since. Chris found his purpose and place in life with the drums and will always play until the worms come.
Chris was born and raised in Tucson, AZ on September 9th 1991.
Chris found his calling with the drums and has always pursued it as a career. Chris dreams to accomplish being able to make a decent living and travel the world by doing so.
ATD has brought light to those dreams for Chris and he beyond ecstatic to be apart of ATD and hopes to experience grow.
Omar Craviotto is an extremely talented and gifted guitar player.
Ash To Dust had the pleasure to add him to the ATD family in 2018.
Omar's biggest influences are John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Joe Duplantier (Gojira), Mark Morton (Lamb of God), and Corey Beaulieu (Trivium).
He started playing guitar at 13 years old.
One of the most life-changing experiences that Omar has experienced is simply being a guitar player. Additionally, Omar is self-taught - only had formally learned how to play guitar for 2 years.
Omar was born in Tucson, AZ on June 18th, 2000.
One of the biggest accomplishments that Omar would love to achieve would be to travel - especially to Europe.
What Omar hopes to gain by being in Ash To Dust is to be able to make enough money to keep touring, make more music, and be able to support himself off of his music.
